For this service, you just have to send us the file by mail or online. Once we have it, we can send you a quote, which will always be as precise as possible. Of course, the content received for putting together the quote will be treated with confidentiality and remains the property of its owner.
When delivering our audio or video transcript, we can do it in physical format (CD, DVD) or digital (.pdf, .txt, .docx …), depending on your preferences.
What if I want to transcribe an audio or video from another language into Spanish?
No problem. At Eikatrad, we have dependable professionals capable of carrying out these transcription tasks as swiftly as possible.
And from Spanish to other languages?
In this case, a native translator of the original language will translate the text into Spanish. When it is ready, another translator from our team will transcribe the text from Spanish to that third language.
Transcription: a necessary task
The task of transcription could be summarised as one of expressing in written form the different phonemes of a language. For that reason, it is a more than necessary task in many situations. There are three types of transcriptions that we can provide:
- Literal: It is the type of transcription for which the aim is to be as accurate as possible. For that reason, it includes unfinished phrases or errors with vocabulary and pronunciation. It does not interpret what the speaker intends to say, but what he/she actually says. It is used in trials, expert evidence and plenary records.
- Natural transcription: It is the one for which the aim is more fluidity. Therefore, it interprets pronunciation errors in order to make it understandable without changing the meaning of what the speaker says.
- Phonetic transcription: This is a transcription of sounds according to general rules of transcription. It is ideal to translate languages without a written tradition into black and white and the sounds used in each language.
Transcription is a much-needed task in interviews, conferences, conversations, recordings … transform the word into writing is not without difficulty, however.
Many times, audio or video transcription is a manual process through which you have to filter out the ambient noise, interferences, etc. as well as identify the voices in the conversation.
Although it is true that there are computer programs that slow down the speed of conversation and clean the sound, the technology has not yet come to “invent” a truly effective artificial transcriber.
For this reason, the transcriber remains an irreplaceable job, since the human component of interpreting a conversation in required.
The pauses, non-verbal language, context… are just some considerations that a transcriber must consider to carry out his/her work in the most appropriate way possible.
